Erin McKinnon2024-09-10I took my 5 year old here and we both absolutely loved it! The staff is amazing! Got to meet the man behind the maz's, open bar. Such a fun time! I highly suggest you check it out!Alten Wilmot2024-08-28We’re staying at Sonesta Maho hotel across the street and visited We Culture today and had a great time. The costumes on display are incredible and learning where they come from and how they’re made was very inspiring. Our guides were friendly, funny, and personable. It was cool to be so close to and learn from people who are embedded into the carnival and influencers of its history. The building is incredible, with every detail intentionally designed (right down to the bathrooms!) and the artwork on the walls and in the furniture is amazing. We also got to try on a costume for a great photo op. Overall a great way to spend an hour - would highly recommend!Marli Bennett2024-08-26Visiting the We Culture Museum with my family was one of the highlights of our trip to St. Maarten! We learned so much during our tour about the history and culture of Caribbean Carnival! From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were enveloped by the sights and sounds of Carnival! Our docents were so knowledgeable and freely shared their traditions with us! Gerald exudes so much joy while sharing the stories of his childhood in Trinidad and how he is striving to keep the history of Carnival alive! The beautiful costumes, created by Gerald and his partner, are on display throughout the museum! The craftsmanship and artistic vision are absolutely breathtaking! The intricate details in each costume and the creativity were beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined! My family and I are forever grateful for this experience and will carry this knowledge with us for all of our days. We highly recommend that you visit the We Culture Museum any and every time you’re in St. Maarten!Zach Dodd2024-08-06This is an absolute must on your to do list in Sint Maarten. I’m not sure where to begin with this review because there are so many great things to say about this experience. First of all if you are a lover of different cultures this will be right up your alley. The colorful displays are complimented by the owners telling of sint maartens equally colorful history. Each unique piece in the museum is more mesmerizing than the last, and each telling of its history is more gripping than before. As the viewer you will be left feeling inspired to create but more so, inspired to party! I cannot write a full review of the museum without telling you about their amazing staff. As soon as my wife and I walked into the museum we were greeted with big smiles and warm welcomes. Everything was spelled out for us and we knew all of our options for our experience before we even started. Everyone on staff catered to all of our questions and all of our needs. They were even able to broaden our experience by giving advice on where to find some really fantastic local foods to try. If you are looking for art that depicts the lore, myths, and legends of Sint Maarten well than look no further because this museum offers an art installation as well. The stories that the pieces tell are vivid and will evoke a variety of emotions. There are paintings, sculptures, and even displays of musical instruments that show you just how much creativity is packed into this small island. Now this excursion doesn’t take more than an hour but trust me you will want to spend more than just an hour there. Like I said before I cannot say enough about this place. If I could give it a higher rating it still wouldn’t reflect how worth it this place is to visit. 5/5, 10/10, gold star, A+, however you rate things this museum gets top marks. It’s an absolute must for your Sint Maarten travel itinerary.Manon Van dijk2024-07-27Great experience, super warming welcome and beautiful place! We had a 45 min guided tour and it was very good! You can touch and feel everything. Such a lovely museum!Tthegreat 1012024-06-14Was looking for things to do on google and was not disappointed. Staff were amazing and the experience itself was fun and I was able to learn a lot about carnival. Beautiful costumes and interesting stories. Got to take some photos at the end with some of the headpieces as well. A worthwhile experience. We Are! SXM2024-06-05One of the latest additions to our tourism industry and a true gem! Here you learn everything about the history of Caribbean culture explained by Gerald the man who together with his family changed the Carinival culture in Trinidad and abroad. His family where the ones that started the feathered costumes in Trinidad after which the entire Caribbean followed. Me living 12 years on the island and asking lots of questions still had no clue about soo many historical facts about Carnival. And next to learning a lot you can admire the most mesmerizing costumes at this place. Am not going to show you all as this would ruin the surprise but see here a selection of what you get to see. The price includes unlimited bar for the time you walk around so you feel like you are really part of a Carnival troupe, saying no to a rum is not an option ;) Cheers and enjoy!Andy Wray2024-05-31This is a must see when in Sint Maarten. Tucked away in a little plaza, chock full costumes and artifacts associated with caribbean carnival. Super informative and fun. Open bar too. Owner and staff are brilliant. Highly recommended.Mireille Ghercioiu2024-05-21Got a lovely tour. Very friendly staff. The owner and his partner created all the costumes. Very pretty and colorful. Learned some things about carnival I did not know. Unlimited complimentary open bar to top it all off!Keiko2024-05-16Carnival is different in St Maarten. We did not understand some things until we came to this museum tucked into a courtyard in Maho. It is not free like other small museums in the island but it is WELL WORTH it! We were granted a tour by the amazing artist and owner who showed us things we would have missed without his guidance. If you are interested in costumes, art, sculpture, and culture, I highly recommend this very intimate experience. If you have children, please mind them as there are no barriers between the visitor and the intricate creations. This jewel of a museum was so much fun and deserves to be seen and supported.
