After enjoying a drink at the Caribbean Fun Bar, step into the Costume Museum, the largest room in We Culture. This immersive space showcases dozens of meticulously handcrafted costumes, each narrating the rich history of Caribbean carnivals.
Created by the founders with over 50 years of experience, the costumes can be explored at your own pace or through a guided tour. Passionate narrators bring the history and vibrancy of each costume to life.
In the center, workbenches display the creation process, bead by bead, feather by feather. This mini “mas camp” echoes traditional workshops where creativity flows with music and camaraderie, giving you a taste of Caribbean culture.
Experience this vibrant celebration of Caribbean heritage and witness how these magnificent costumes are born.
Beyond the Costume Museum lies The Vault, a colossal space brimming with all the essential elements that bring Caribbean carnival costumes to life. The Art Gallery Room at We Culture showcases the exquisite work of Larysa Malsagova, a talented painter whose vibrant pieces capture the essence of Caribbean Carnival and folklore.
This gallery invites you to experience the intricate details and rich narratives of the Caribbean through Larysa’s vivid paintings, which bring to life the colorful costumes, feathers, and cultural stories of the islands. Each artwork tells a unique story, making this gallery a visual and cultural feast that celebrates the spirit of the Caribbean.
One of the most impressive rooms in We Culture is the History Rooms. Preserving costumes and artifacts from past Caribbean Carnivals has been challenging, as many get discarded or destroyed during parades.
The founders have excelled in preserving a vast collection of costume pieces, original design artworks, newspaper clippings, and articles, some dating back 75 years. This makes the History Rooms a unique space to explore the rich history and evolution of Caribbean carnival craftsmanship.
